1. What details will BP collect from me?

BP provides a service to help people buy and sell businesses. In order to provide the most efficient service possible to our members, we ask for personal details e.g. Email address, first & last name, phone numbers etc. Visitors to BP are welcome to browse and view advertisements without entering any personal information.

BP collects information from its users both directly and indirectly.

Information collected directly: BP collects both 'public' and 'private' information. Public: We define public information as personal information provided for public display by members. This can include (but is not limited to) business advertisement and photograph. Private: We define private information as any information about members that is not displayed. This can include (but is not limited to) email addresses, first and last names, passwords, mailing addresses and telephone numbers. BP only allows members to submit information for their own purposes. Members may not submit information on somebody else's behalf.

Surveys and competitions: BP occasionally requests information from users via surveys or competitions. Participation is voluntary, as is the disclosure of any personal information.

Information collected indirectly: BP collects information that is not personally identifiable, such as IP address and what browser types are used to view the site.

2. What does BP do with this information?

Information collected directly

Public: Public information supplied by our members is intended for viewing by other members and visitors to the site, and is used for searching and matching purposes.

Private: BP uses members' email addresses to verify memberships and to send messages on behalf of other members. BP members cannot access other members' email addresses, unless members wish to advertise their email address for communication purposes. Email addresses may also be used to communicate with members about customer service issues or to keep members informed of news about the site. Members may unsubscribe to this service at any time. All other private information that BP collects is kept confidential and will only be disclosed if required by law.

Surveys and competitions: Information collected by surveys is used to monitor or improve the site according to member's preferences. Contact and other information collected by competitions is used solely for the purpose of awarding prizes and contacting winners.

Information collected indirectly: BP uses information about your server, IP address and browser to help us to run our site efficiently.

BP may contain links to sites that we think may be of interest to our members. Please note that BP is not responsible for these sites in any way and our privacy policy does not relate to these sites. Your privacy is important to us, so BP takes every available precaution to protect you, both online and offline. Only employees who require access to your information to perform a specific task have access to personally identifiable information.

5. If I sign up to BP, will I end up with a lot of unsolicited emails?

Emailing is our primary method of contacting you, and emails from BP will mostly be about member responses to your business, matches we have made for you and newsletters letting you know what is happening in business for sale market. We may also send the occasional announcement of a special event or offer that we want to share with you.

As a BP member, you are automatically subscribed to each of the above. You may choose to unsubscribe from any of these services, and this can be done by following the link that is provided in all of our emails.
